Post-Migration Validation Checklist

A validation checklist for Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange, Power Platform, forms, and workflows after migration waves complete.

Access and identity

  • Confirm users can sign in and reach migrated resources from expected devices and networks.
  • Validate admin roles, break-glass access, group membership, delegated access, and service accounts.
  • Review external users, guest access, sharing links, and Conditional Access impact.
  • Check that high-value owners can manage content and permissions in the target environment.

Workload validation

  • Verify mail flow, shared mailboxes, calendars, SharePoint sites, OneDrive sync, Teams files, channels, workflows, forms, critical reports, and integrations.
  • Test common user journeys: opening files, editing documents, submitting forms, approving requests, sharing files, finding content, and escalating support issues.
  • Confirm migrated Power Apps and Power Automate flows run with correct connections, permissions, owners, error handling, and monitoring.
  • Validate that business owners can complete the actual process the system supports.

Operational handover

  • Document known issues, post-migration changes, support owners, runbooks, and governance actions.
  • Schedule review sessions with site owners, Power Platform owners, support desk, and administrators.
  • Close migration waves only after business validation, issue triage, and owner acceptance are complete.
